My name is Gabriel Apostate (usually just Gabriel or Gabe), previously
known as Warlock (hence the email address). In my readings I found out that warlock is an
old Scottish word meaning "oath-breaker", so I changed my name.
I am a college student at the University of Rochester in Rochester (duh), New York. It happens to be a great school, and on top of that, they're giving me lots of money. How could I refuse? I'm studying medieval European and Japanese history there, and I'll probably be minoring in creative writing. So if you think my writing sucks, let me know now so I can save some money.
A lot of my interests may seem odd to the close-minded. I love books, art, photography, and music (these aren't the odd ones). I also love gothic architecture, especially old cathedrals. I hope to go to Europe and look at some of the extremely old ones there once I graduate. I am interested in religion, from a scholarly point of view, especially pre-Christian religions which incorporate a lot of mythology (Greek & Roman, Norse, etc.). Somewhat related to this, I am also heavily into role-playing games and if you live in the Rochester, NY area, drop me a line because I'm always looking for players (or, preferably, game masters).
I used to write a lot but lately I haven't been doing so much. I've got a dark fantasy "epic" (yeah, right) that I work sporadically on called For Love of Evile, in addition to a couple of extremely short stories and poems. If you've read them, let me know what you think, please! Comments from readers are what makes me keep writing.
Ok, a few favorites and all that stuff.
Favorite Movies: The Crow, William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet (the second half, the first was pretty bad. Even though the movie wasn't 'traditional', I thought that it was pulled off very well), Replacement Killers (it's just damn cool), Jackie Chan flicks, Anime.
Favorite Books: Anything by Raymond E. Feist, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum (recently gave my copy away to a friend, got to get ahold of another), the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, and most anything by Terry Pratchett (although I love the books with Death the most, KNOW WHAT I MEAN?).
Favorite Songs: Temple of Love by SOM, Cocoon by Switchblade Symphony, Electric Blue by the Cranberries, Pain & Retribution by Graeme Revell, A Spy in the Cab by Bauhaus. Lucia Di Lammermoor & The Diva Dance from "The Fifth Element", Remnants of a Deeper Purity by Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Take Control by Lords of Acid, Hollow Hills by Bauhaus.
Favorite TV Shows: Gargoyles, Red Dwarf, Star Trek: DS9, 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Pretender
Favorite Food: Chinese food, Polish sausage and potato foil dinners (ever had one after backpacking six miles? It's heavenly)
