| Blood Shackle
(Ritual) Level: 13 Duration: 1D6 hours per level of experience P.P.E.: 500 Saving Throw: Only on a natural 18 or higher. Ritual: The victim, which does not necessarily have to be a magic user, is placed in a silver collar which is chained to a silver stake driven into the ground or floor. A crux commissa (capital T) is cut into the forehead of the victim with the caster's thumb and then the spell is cast. This spell was created to control dangerous magic users for a limited period of time. It drains the victim of ALL PPE and prevents them from casting spells or using any magical abilities. In addition, PS, PP, PE, and Spd are reduced to 5 (if already 5 or lower, do not raise them). Their PPE does not regenerate while they are held in thrall by this spell. When the duration of the spell elapses, the victim's attributes return to normal, their PPE begins to regenerate, and they are able to cast spells and use any magical abilities as normal. The spell can be cast again using the same materials (see Ritual), however their forehead must be cleaned and a new crux commissa must be cut. To break the collar or chain or to pull the stake from the ground requires a normal PS of 40 or a supernatural PS of 25. The metal is virtually impervious to magic (including magic fire) because it is charged with PPE and simply absorbs the energy. Magic weapons may still cut the chain, however (the chain requires 100 SDC to cut). |
