The makers of the Pneumatic Arrow Launcher felt that the crossbow needed an overhaul. The PAL is a lightweight and versatile weapon. It fires 6 inch long metal arrows using compressed air which is stored in the gun itself. The PAL uses a pump action to reload its 10 pencil thin barrels (which are in a 2x5 stack). Working the action causes 10 more arrows to load from the vertical clip which is inserted into the top of the PAL. One of the most convenient features about the PAL is the diversity of its ammo. One can use anything from simple wooden shafts to high tech synthetics to magic arrows (as long as they fit, for measurements, see below). Weight: 4lbs Damage: Varies with arrow. See below. Rate: Single, or in volleys of 2, 6, or 10 Range: 700 feet Payload: 30 Cost: $1000 / 5000 credits Note: Even in volleys, the PAL gets a standard +3 to strike due to the fact that there is no recoil IF all the arrows are being fired at one target. Types of Arrows (all prices are for one dozen (12) arrows): - Standard Titanium Shafts: 1D6 - $40 - Steel Tipped Wooden Shafts: 1D4+2 - $30 - Wooden Shafts (no tip): 1D4 - $20 - Gas: Shatters on impact, releasing a vapor. All gases have an effective radius of 10 feet. - $60 - Smoke: Creates a smoke screen that covers a 20 foot area. - $30 - Flare: Emits a bright light for 45 seconds. - $30 The following arrows are only available in RIFTS and other extremely high-tech games. - Light Explosive: 1D4x10 SD - 100 credits - Medium Explosive: 1D6x10 SD - 200 credits - Heavy Explosive: 1D8x10 SD - 300 credits - Super Heavy: 1D6 MD - 500 credits - Neural: Has effects identical to that of a Neural Mace - 350 credits ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Created by Gabriel http://thegarden.neonexus.com
